Opening of historic Baku 2015 EuroGames – as seen by Washington Post
The photographers of the Washington Post were among those accredited to be at the grand opening of the inaugural European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan presented an unforgettable, vivid opening ceremony, the moments of which were captured by both professional photographers and people armed with their phones and cameras.
The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till June 28. A total of 20 sports is presented at Baku 2015, 16 of which ar Olympic. More than 6,000 athletes came to Baku to participate in the historic event. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
