Azerbaijan’s Sheki: the pearl of the Turkic world (VIDEO)
Azerbaijan’s Sheki district lies on the ancient Silk Route. The district’s central city of the same name has been named ‘cultural capital of the Turkic world’ in 2016.
The city hosted a number of events aimed at highlighting Turkic culture. For example, hundreds of craftsmen have traveled to Sheki to show off their skills.
This includes men showing off their skills with ancient Azerbaijani musical instruments or hand work, while women do their best with cooking traditional Azerbaijani meals.
Sheki city also has an 18th century Khan palace, filled with traditional Sheki stained-glass artwork.
